While it’s true that anyone with a pocket camera can create images, what’s important is to create images that are spectacular and manage to capture the viewer’s attention. There are many aspects of photography that a beginner needs to know even before he could be labeled as an amateur. A beginner is someone who can understand and appreciate a good image, because of his ingrained knowledge about basic photography, but needs help on composition and exposure.

More often than not, when you come across a website that’s dedicated to photographers chances are you are likely to come across terms like the rule of thirds, leading lines etc. Make sure that you are aware of atleast the basic terminologies. These help to give you a better understanding of the discussions on these forums. For example when it comes to composition, the rule of thirds is the most important rule, wherein photographers imagine that the image is divided into nine different segments by two vertical and two horizontal lines and the most important elements in the scene are placed along these lines. Also make sure you know some of the abbreviations that are commonly used in photography. Understanding these abbreviations help beginners to understand popular photography terms and direct them to articles that explain these in detail.

As earlier said, taking a good photo is not just about clicking randomly. It takes a sound understanding of photography techniques like composition, and exposure.

For those who would need to take control over the image that the camera displays, need to understand about exposure. You need to learn about the ISO settings in your camera. A beginner also needs to understand different elements like shutter speed, f-stop, aperture etc. Also get to understand about the elements that control the depth of feel.

Although beginners have the advantage of being blissfully ignorant about the essential elements of photography, it’s important to know about these elements for those who’d love to take their passion to the next level to compete with amateurs. For those who’d love to know more on these techniques, you can always get help from professional photographers.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/tip-s-for-beginners-in-photography-56122ef0f4c.html

Mystery Photo - Week 2

Week 2

Last weeks Mystery didn't have a winner but worry no longer the next Mystery is posted on the website waiting for your best guess. We are able to move freely and see with ease even without the presence of the sun or even deep down the underground because of light.

We always try to find a way to acquire light during the night. Way back when, people used lamps made from a piece of clothe soaked in animal fat or oil as a source of light. Because of the new technology people are able to “see” even at night. The invention of fixtures enables us to make dark places become bright and visible.

Fixed Lights:
Recessed – This is a fixed light found inside a hollow opening, usually in a ceiling. This has two parts, the housing and the trim. The housing which is fixed in the ceiling and contains the lamp holder is the fixture itself. The trim, on the other hand, is the visible portion of the light. It includes the thin lining around the edge of the light.

Surface-mounted – The name itself speaks about itself. It is a light mounted on the surface.
Emergency or Exit – A type of surface-mounted light, emergency or exit light is connected to an outlet or a battery and has a backup power if the main power fails. The device usually automatically turns on when the main power dies.

Outdoor:
You can find a lot of different types of outdoor lights.

Street – These are used to light our streets and sidewalks at night. There are many light manufacturers who are producing LED and Photovoltaic lights for a more energy-efficient lights compared to ordinary bulbs.

Flood – It is a type of light use to brighten or illuminate football fields, playgrounds, work zones and similar places during nighttime.

Security:
It is a very bright kind of light. These are found usually in urban areas, behind homes, commercial prisons, military camps, and prison camps. These are used for security purposes. The main purpose of security lighting is to provide a means to nip crime at the bud. You see, criminals and intruders usually put their evil plans into action on places that are dark or poorly lit. When they are in a well lit area, criminals feel apprehensive and exposed, making them find another place to strike. Outdoor security lighting is a fairly easy and low-cost technique to curb burglars, trespassers, and vandals. Thus, it’ll surely save your home and property from great damage. It is very important for us to see our surroundings clearly especially at night time for security reasons.

Lights at night enable our children to read and study their lessons with ease even if there is no sunlight, it also helps us drive safely and see the roadway, preventing an accident from happening. Lights are also important in our personal lives, for our good mood, for romantic atmosphere, for parties as all this helps us to cope better with life full of stress and responsibilities.

Be sure to include in your shopping list the following: wall pack lighting and an outdoor flood light, when you go shopping for your next home improvement.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/fixed-lights-the-three-main-categories-56097c38420.html

Mystery Photo

Mystery Photo - Week 1

Year or so ago I started this mystery photo contest on facebook but have now migrated it to my website. www.ZachManring.com/mystery What is mystery photo? Well, I will take photos and you guess what they are. Some things to keep in mind, you can only guess once and you can only win once a month. The photos I select are normally things people see everyday but under a different angle and light. This is where the challenge comes into play. The harder I think the image is to guess the greater the reward. Easy ones will receive something like free shipping or something like a coupon for your next purchase. Hard ones will get something better like a free photo of their choice. Now the photo is only up for 1 week, if it is not guessed in time, then the reward is lost.

Good luck and enjoy!
www.ZachManring.com/mystery

Creating Panoramic Images With Image Stitching

It seems like every year brings a new way to breathe a different kind of life into images, whether digital or print. The digital edited industry has boomed and one of the aspects of digital art that makes it so appealing and bankable is the ability to create panoramic images with the process of image stitching.
Image stitching is a new method of digital editing that allows artists to combine several different photographs to create one seamless image. Since images with different or overlapping fields of view can be connected together, image stitching can produce high resolution panoramas of beautiful sceneries and can even be used to recreate a three hundred sixty degree environment for dome exhibits. Creating panoramas with image stitching typically occurs in the three separate stages of image registration, image calibration and then image blending.
Image Registration
The art of image stitching is a lot like fitting a jigsaw puzzle of images together and because the goal is to make the end product look seamless, it is necessary to perform image registration. Image registration is focused on matching the features in the different photographs or directly aligning a set of images. Performing this first step reduces the number of irregularities between the image pixels being overlapped. There are different ways to make image registration easier such as using a base panorama, also called a mock model, or geometric registration.
Image Calibration
In many cases, the images that are being stitched together have slight differences because of the lens model used to capture the image. The minute differences in all the images can still have a noticeable effect once all of the pictures have been stitched together and thus, image calibration becomes a necessary step in the process. Image calibration corrects any optical blemishes in the photograph so that each separate image meshes with each other perfectly.
Image Blending
The last stage of the image stitching process is image blending. This step allows the artist to make any necessary adjustments that were brought up in the calibration stage of the process as well as even out the exposure for the entire panorama. Some steps are also taken to minimize any visibility of the cuts and seams at which the different photographs were joined together.
Projections of Image Stitching
Stitched images can be arranged one of three different kinds of map projections depending on the preference of the artist or the request of a client. The three projections are known as the Rectilinear Projection, simply explained as viewing the image on a 2D plane, the Cylindrical projection, where in the image is on a plane with a three hundred sixty degree horizontal view but a limited vertical view, and the Spherical Projection, where the image is meant to be viewed from within a sphere.
Although there is a lot of effort that goes into image stitching and there are often challenges that are posed to the artist due to errors in the initial photo capturing, image stitching has still produced some of the most beautiful and sought after panoramas.
Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/creating-panoramic-images-with-image-stitching-31c4c7c38d9.html

About the Author:Atiqur Sumon
Chief Executive
DTP & SEO Expert at Outsource Experts
http://www.clippingpathindia.com
http://www.clippingpathspecialist.com

Do The Following Ahead Of Shopping For Any Dslr Camera

Most people understand that choosing a brand new dSLR camera, no matter if you intend to modernize your existing one or to get a initial digital camera, is not an easy task to accomplish. you will find so many dSLR cameras available in the market, each with specific pro(s) and con(s). From party snaps, to photos of children and travel shots of family members in front of famous monuments, millions upon millions of people photographs are taken every single say of the year.
Portrait photography is a little different to general people photography. The intent of portrait photography is capture and display something of the 'essence' of a person; to say something about their character, personality, or life.
The three most important things to get right in portrait photography are camera settings, lighting, and your relationship with your model.
Camera settings for portrait photography
Because taking portrait photographs is all about a person's face (or if it's a wider shot, their head-and-shoulders), classic portrait photography settings seek to remove anything distracting from the background of the shot. This mimics the effect of looking at someone's face from very close up, and makes the subject 'pop' (this is photographer-speak for 'stand out and capture attention').
The way to achieve a distraction-free portrait photo is to use a wide aperture, often as wide as possible (f/2.8 or f/4 are popular choices). Wide apertures produce a shallow depth-of-field, which renders anything far from the plane of best focus - i.e. the background - as a soft blur.
Aside from a wide aperture, the only other important setting is ISO. This should be as low a number as possible (e.g. ISO 100), as higher ISOs will lead to digital noise, which is particularly ugly in a portrait.
There's one offshoot of portrait photography where the recommended settings are different, and that's environmental portrait photography. Environmental portrait photography seeks to show a person in their 'natural habitat', which is often their workplace. Here you want to show the background, so a smaller aperture is appropriate.
Lighting for portrait photography
Lighting in portrait photography can be as complicated as you like. Professional portrait photography is almost always done in a studio, where the lighting can be 100% controlled. If you're reading this, chances are you don't have your own photography studio, so let's discuss a simple lighting scheme you can set up at home.
First, position your model at a window. The light coming from the window should be bright, but not direct (i.e. not coming directly from the sun). You model should be facing you, side on to the window. Light from the window light will obviously light up the side of their face that is closest to it. Then, position something on the other side of your model that will bounce reflected light from the window onto the other side of their face. Anything white or reflective will do, for example a piece of white cardboard or a sheet of aluminum.
Now you have a basic, flattering light scheme, with the main light source on one side of your model's face, and 'fill' light from the reflector on the other. Don't forget that you should frame the shot close enough that the reflector is not in the shot.
Interacting with your subject
Portrait photography inevitably says something about the relationship between photographer and subject. Unless you're shooting professional models, the hardest thing about taking portrait photos is not in fact camera settings or lighting, but ensuring that your model is comfortable and relaxed enough to give you good results. A model who feels awkward, uncomfortable or self-conscious will not photograph well.
Often the best strategy to relax your model is simply to engage them in conversation, as this will take their mind off the camera. They'll probably get more comfortable with the process after you've rattled off a few shots, so schedule a decent amount of time and plan on taking your best shots towards the end of the session.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/photography-basics-portrait-photography-tips-4f0331d1f7a.html

About the Author:Tobias Sterling is a featured writer on Clivir.com - The Free Learning Community Site. This can be done with the editing softwares from the computers.

Photo sharing can be easily done with digital photographs. With digital, you can just attach them to email, or upload them to your favorite photo sharing site and everyone you know can see them and make prints of the one's they want. In digital photography you don't require film. This means you don't have to pay or wait for film development. This can easily reduce the cost of your photographs. It also means that you don't have to wait hours or days before seeing your photographs.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/advantages-of-digital-photography-16a97ee844b.html

About the Author:Also Read about street photography and Digital Photography and development photography

Night Photography

Night photography is something many photographers do. The technique to it though is to have the shutter open long enough to get the light in to get a good quality photo. (The shutter is what lets in the background light of the photo you are taking.)
To freeze the background long enough to take the photo you want, you can use the slow-synchronized flash on your camera. This type of photography takes a lot of patience and time to develop good quality. So if you are not a patient type of person, you may not want to get into this type of photography.

Here's a couple tips:
Depend on your histogram to check exposure. When you're taking photos, take different photos at different shutter speeds. When you find the one you want you know you're doing it right.

Use a self-timer. There are other features you may also want for your camera, like a self-timer. It will help you to not shake the camera when you know the shutter is going to go off.

Get a tripod. If you have trouble keeping the camera sturdy, the best thing to get is a tripod. Almost everyone that is into photo shooting has one and is probably the best accessory to get for your camera. I recommend: Slik Pro 500DX

Buy a lens hood. With night photography, Lens hoods are really important. They can prevent unwanted light from coming into your photo at spots you don't want it to. It can also prevent your camera lens from knocking into things. If you really get into photo shooting then you will want to buy one.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/night-photography-digital-photography-tips-for-beginners-4ee9c188875.html

Adding blogger to Facebook

In the efforts to keep things all up to date, I found a way to auto post Notes on your Facebook page. These notes will be added each time you make a blog post.

Sign in to Facebook's home page using the email address you registered

Follow the "Notes" link from the navigational menu. If you have already entered notes on your page, then they will load for you to preview or edit.

Select the "Edit Import Settings" link (currently on the bottom left) in the Notes Setting section. If you are already importing from a blog, the URL will appear here. You can only import from 1 source at a time. Simply "Stop Importing" if you want to change to an RSS feed.

Enter the URL for the RSS feed in the box. Check the box next to the statement that you actually own the content. You cannot import RSS feeds from Web sites that are not your own or that you do not have permission to reproduce.

Click the "Start Importing" button. Facebook will import the content of the RSS feed for you to preview. If everything looks good, then go ahead and hit the "Continue" button. Now your RSS feed is automatically imported into your "Notes" section.

Set your privacy levels to determine who is allowed to view your notes, which now contain your RSS feed.

Some addition things I notice:

Captions seem to get all messed up when you add one to your image.

Image size can't be more than 400px wide.

It's NOT instant.

Sometimes it takes a few tries.

Read more: How to Import An RSS Feed To Your Facebook | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_2031209_import-rss-feed.html#ixzz17NfnqT5u

Macro photography

www.ZachManring.com

Macro photography is about detail. A macro photograph is a close up, often of a day-to-day object, which offers a new perspective.
Popular macro photographs are those of insects or flowers. The image of a butterfly or a tiny orchid, magnified many times to fill a regular 6"x4" print or a PC screen, reveals a host of new details. Such pictures often give what we might call a 'bugs eye' view on the world, and it looks like a very different place.

While the best quality macro photographs are from the professionals, there's nothing to stop most camera owners from having a go at macro photography. The majority of compact digital cameras now have a macro mode, allowing good quality close-ups to be taken.

Specialist macro lenses exist for SLR cameras, allowing very detailed photographs. These also have the shallow depth of field required for macro pictures. However, even without a macro lens it's possible, with imagination, to create macro photographs.

The key is to find the right subject, the right angle and, of course, the right lighting. Think of what you're trying to achieve with the picture. Then try to get as close as possible, given the limitation of the lens or the camera. If you've got a zoom facility, make the most of it. This will create minor image distortion, because that's what zoom lenses do, but it won't dramatically affect the shot.

Consider what will make an interesting macro picture. It's amazing how simple, every day objects can become eye-catching and interesting when photographed close-up. Basic foodstuffs such as pasta or beans can be intriguing, because we don't normally see them at images in their own right. They're normally just the stuff of life, and to make them the subject of a macro photo transforms them.
The key to successful macro photography is experimentation. Fortunately the digital age allows us to shoot hundreds of photos at no expense. So if you're interested in macro photography the best thing to do is get out there and give it a go.

Articles Source:http://entertainment.ezinemark.com/macro-photography-fundamentals-4f128171474.html

About the Author:Andrew Micheals is a freelance writer and photographer. ZachManring.com today has just topped over 50,000 pageviews in under 2 years. I know that sounds like a lot but its really not. Getting your name out there is a hard thing to do, makes it even harder when you don't have the money to put forth to get the ball rolling. Because of that I use Facebook and Twitter to do most of my free advertising. Facebook has provided 83.86% of my visits on my site, but after doing numerous readings on sites and blogs, I have decided to sign up at iStockPhoto and see what happens. It seems that most of my work is 'stock' like, so fingered crossed we will see what happens. Until then, please tell your friends and family about a bad-ass photographer located out of Atlanta!

Tennessee Trip

Chattanooga | www.ZachManring.com

I have been taking pictures for a long time now and until recently all my pictures have been my ideas. I brought a gift with me this time around, my girlfriend. She just may be a keeper after handling all that my family threw at her.

Anyways, back to the main reason why I'm posting this photo. Let me paint you a picture.

The air was clean, the temp was crisp and the sun was setting. The camera is in the car. Threw on a jacket and walked down to the pier with my sweetheart by my side. Set up the camera and waited until the perfect shot. Meanwhile my beautiful girlfriend thinks of some shots that she would like, while swinging on the swing with coffee in her hands. You can see all the shots I took that night here and here.

Logo design.

The logo for Zach Manring Photography has some hidden value. First one I think is obvious, The logo itself is a combination of the letter 'Z' and the letter 'M'. The color orange was used to grab the users attention, it also added a form of dynamics because that area forms an arrow pointing into the page content. I also wanted it to look glassy so I added a gradient highlight over the whole logo.

As most designers know the Font is one of the hardest parts in design. I choose this font, can't tell you what the name is, but it is close to my natural handwriting. Of course the orange color of 'photography' ties the colors of the logo and font together.

Night Shot.

Sometimes being a photographer means that all your friends think they can use you for services for next to nothing or free. Well in this case I think I walked away with not money but with some beautiful shots of Atlanta at night. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now and so glad to be there at the right time.

What I enjoy about long exposures is you really don’t know what you are going to get out of the shot. Sure you can predict by knowing how your camera works and adjusting varies settings but do you really know what to expect? In my case I was on a balcony about 37 floors up with some co-workers when I realized that if they made the slightest movement they my shots would be blurry or wavy. After teaching them how their actions make a difference and told them to stay still when the shutter is open, I was able to take these shots. Another funny thing is the wildest stuff lights up differently at night. At full screen you can see people sitting on the side of the road or strange blue lights coming from inside houses. All in all this was a fun experience and plan to do more in the near future. Enjoy.

She loves me, she loves me not!

One of my most common subjects is flowers. I try to take these to another level by finding new angles, getting up close, or dynamic lighting. In this case a straight on shot with flash off to the left made this one perfect. No need for post-editing here. Generally when I setup these type of shots I will use a table and tie down the flowers to make them stay in place while I configure the lighting and tripod. In other cases I have walked into a florist and asked if I could walk into the back and take some shots. Obviously these circumstances are not the best so I deal with what I can do. A little trick I have learned is to use a water bottle to add some wetness to the flower, also adds a unique texture.
